Draft Protection

We offer Draft Protection Coverage, a disability insurance policy that safeguards student-athletes' future earnings as professional athletes in case they experience a Permanent Total Disablement prior to signing a professional contract. A Permanent Total Disability happens when a player suffers an accidental bodily injury, sickness, or disease that results in a total physical inability to participate in their sport. The player must have no hope of improvement sufficient to ever commence a career as a professional in their sport.

Our coverage is designed for career-ending disabilities, and a player can buy their first policy up to three years prior to their draft eligibility. To qualify for coverage, the student-athlete must demonstrate professional potential as determined by third-party scouting reports. The maximum benefit amount a player can receive is determined by our sports underwriters, based on the projected draft position and the amount signed in previous drafts.

The good news is that the benefit is paid as a one-time tax-free lump sum, and previous conditions won't affect the premium. Most conditions can be covered once they have been sufficiently game-tested. To request a quote, all you need is the player's name, position, and school.
